Here’s what your donations did

Occupied Skies

The festival in the film was made possible by you, donating $2300 to the Palestine Children’s Welfare Fund (PCWF).  That was the entire budget for the event, to make hundreds of children happy for a whole day.  The funds paid for prizes, Palestinian flags, materials for making kites, posters and invitations, helium balloons, snacks and drinks, a bus to bring children from isolated villages in the Jordan valley, and a DJ with a huge sound system that rang throughout the valley, even in the illegal Israeli settlements.

Let’s do it again!

Every year for eleven years, a group of local Palestinian volunteers has raised funds and volunteered their services to provide Palestinian children in and around the Palestinian village of Burin a day of carefree fun by organizing a kite festival.  Every year except twice, that is, when the organizers were in Israeli prisons.

Burin sits in a small valley on the outskirts of Nablus, with two violent and illegal Israeli settlements, Yitzhar and Bracha, on the hilltops above, built on land confiscated from the Palestinian owners.
