Bring a Day of Joy to Palestinian Children

Every year for the last nine years, a group of volunteers has raised funds and volunteered their services to provide Palestinian children in and around the Palestinian village of Burin a day of carefree fun by organizing a kite festival during the Eid al-Fitr at the end of Ramadan.  Every year except the last, that is, when the organizers were in Israeli prisons. This is, after all, Israeli occupied Palestine. Burin sits in a small valley on the outskirts of Nablus, with two violent and illegal Israeli settlements, Yitzhar and Bracha, on the hilltops above, using land confiscated from the Palestinian owners.

This year, Burin needs your help to make the kite festival happen. The budget for the event is $2300.  This includes prizes for 200 or more children, Palestinian flags, materials for making kites, posters and invitations, helium balloons, snacks and drinks, a bus to bring children from isolated villages in the Jordan valley, and a DJ with a huge sound system that will ring throughout the valley, even in the illegal Israeli settlements.

We already have half the necessary amount in our bank account, but we hope that you will help us get the rest.  Please donate to the Palestine Children’s Welfare Fund to make this event possible.  Send your US tax-exempt donations by check to
